Shang-Chi's Simu Liu Gives Sequel Update

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was one of the post-pandemic success stories for Marvel in 2021. The film made Simu Liu into a leading man, and the story seemingly opened up a lot of new options for the MCU. A sequel was announced shortly after its release, but there’s been little word on Shang-Chi 2 since then. Regardless, Liu wants fans to know that the sequel is still coming even though it was noticeably absent from Marvel’s Comic-Con presentation.”A lot of it is above my pay grade but it’s definitely happening,” said Liu during an interview with Comic Book. “So, just very excited to kind of work on it and it’s going to be amazing. I really can’t say anything beyond that.”The ending of the first movie introduced Shang-Chi to Wong and a few of the Avengers while teasing his larger role in the MCU after acquiring the Ten Rings from his late father, the Mandarin. It remains unknown if Shang-Chi will return for the next Avengers movies. Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton was originally slated to direct Avengers 5, but he ultimately left the project before it was retooled to feature Doctor Doom. The Russo brothers have also stepped into to helm the next two Avengers movies.Cretton is presumably still attached to direct Shang-Chi 2. which will likely feature Awkwafina as Katy, and Meng’er Zhang as Shang-Chi’s sister, Xu Xialing. But for now, we can only speculate when the film may materialize. It’s not currently on Marvel’s Phase 6 schedule.Every MCU Actor Who Has Appeared On Netflix's Black MirrorSee More
